Mass Communication and Media Studies (Duo Task)

Hello readers,


            The wants of any individual is divided into two categories- necessities such as food, clothing, shelters and other goods over which his income will be spread, having provided for necessaries. Even on the essentials, the individual may spend more than absolutely necessary in, for example, securing a more favourable dwelling or better clothes, but any buying beyond the absolute necessities is for additional satisfaction. The choice which an individual makes between objects of other expenditure is one which is ultimately linked with his own personality that he alone can make a choice which will give him the most satisfaction. (MacCormac) 

            Here is where opens the space for advertisement. The function of advertisement is to bring to notice all potential buyers who can afford to have an additional or luxurious satisfaction.  Hence, keeping this in mind, our lecturer Vaidehi ma'am assigned us a task to analyze the role and function of advertisements. It was a task where two classmates have to work on the topic and present an introductory discussion of the given topic. I was assigned this task along with Asha and we made a presentation and presented in a hybrid mode via google meet on 28th January 2021 at the Department of English, Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University.
