Group Task - The Sense of an Ending

 The Sense of an Ending

-Group Task

Welcome readers!

Semester 4 students of the Department of English are given a Group Activity task every year under the pedagogical process. Group formation plays pedagogically an important role in studying English Language and Literature. It demands proper training to work in a group or with people (like-minded, (non)like-minded individuals) which can be gained by practical engagement with other individuals to carry out a certain task. Here, the only way to learn this thing more efficiently is by managing humans (human resources). This kind of activity not only helps in preparing ourselves to perform collaborative tasks in a better way but also emerges as a productive tool to be explored among the students of humanities.

The students are assigned to work collaboratively with the selected text and to make an introductory presentation on the text before the professor begins the unit. The paper which we study as the New Literature Course counts five texts- Chetan Bhagat's 'One Night at the Call Center, Aravind Adiga's 'The White Tiger', Dan Brown's 'The Da Vinci Code', J. K. Rowling's 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' and the last text 'The Sense of an Ending' by Julian Barnes.

It was a very good learning experience to work in a group on the text 'The Sense of an Ending' by Julian Barnes. We five students Dhara Virani, Dharti Makwana, Kavisha Alagiya, Ruchi Joshi and Rohit Vyas formed a group to work collaboratively on Barnes's text.

We read the text thoroughly, we discussed the aspects of the text, watched the film together, compared the film with the text and there we were ready to shoot our video and presented the clip in class as our Introductory presentation.

We strived to learn the things which the present digital world demands. We used different mediums for preparing the presentation. We acquainted ourselves with the OBS system's chroma key, worked on Glass Board to experience the new age board work, etc. Have a look at this post to view our plan and behind the curtain work.
