This presentation attempts to focus on Nathaniel Hawthorne’s ‘The Scarlet Letter’ and the duplicated figuration of Hester Prynne developed around the reading of the text as an unjustified and mal-reading. It introduces to Hester-Prynne-ism and analyses the nature of the practice – how, where and when this has been applied. It questions the practice of Hester-Prynne-ism to reread Hester-Prynne-ism in the light of a rebelling spirit going against the societal standards as well as embracing it.
