The Match by Kavisha Alagiya

Welcome Readers!

It feels great pleasure to share my first attempt to write a Metaphysical poem with you all. In this poem titled ‘The Match’, I have tried to signify a young girl’s feelings who is at the verge of death, with a match stick.

The Match

Howbeit a Match
When envisaged-
The room full of drama,
-wafting from the world,
She drove to possibility of life
To survive as a ‘petal’ on ‘thrones’.

Broke her magical phantasm
-the fierce truth of dark;
Murdered her charm.
Yet deep down unto her
Prevailed the sparkle of affection,
Too real for the world-
Which already engulfed in chaos.

To split herself apart,
She used ecstasies,
Focused on aspirations.
She then actualized-
Was doomed to be burned
To illuminate the chamber
And the reader found a light.

None but her mate;
In thirst of more light
Stroked with frictional force,
And the mild, thoughtful, treasured her
In relief and wonder
She sacrificed herself-
To quiet the tempest!
